The Planner I performs a variety of professional and administrative duties involving monitoring, maintaining and coordination of planning projects under the direction of the Community Development Director. This is an entry-level professional and technical planning position requiring a degree of independent and mature judgement.  Work will be conducted both in the office as well as outside at various locations.  Applicaton deadline is April 15, 2024.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of principles and practices of urban planning.
  • Ability to use technology including a variety of software such as GIS and Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to multi-task various duties, projects and responsibilities.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of construction, inspection and building processes involving the International Building Codes is preferred.
  • Experience in development review preferred.
  • AICP preferred or ability to obtain AICP certification within two years of employment.
  • Ability to obtain Certified Permit Technician from the International Code Council (ICC) within two years of employment.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience involving municipal government planning or equivalent combination of experience and education.
