The City of Moses Lake is accepting applications for a Building Official position in the Community Development department. 

This position is responsible for directing the city’s building inspection and permitting functions.

Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: Supervises, coordinates, and performs building inspections on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to determine compliance with all International Codes, the State Energy Code, accessibility codes, federal codes, and city municipal and zoning codes. Reviews and analyzes plans and specifications for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to ensure compliance with all state-adopted codes. Reviews and enforces compliance with city zoning and land use regulations; oversees the issuance of correction notices, Notice and Orders, and infraction notices; advises staff on issues related to non-compliance and infractions; signs official notices. Determines which regulatory procedure to apply; provides professional building and code enforcement advice on-site and through written correspondence. Reviews, attends, and participates in meetings for all new proposed commercial and industrial construction and for all new land use proposals. Interprets and explains building codes to owners, contractors, and design professionals. Coordinates building and land-use enforcement activities with other local agencies. Reviews and approves latest building techniques and products.
