Senior Planning Services Coordinator

Full Salary Range: $53,810.00 - $80,730.00 Annually

Hiring Range: $60,500.00 - $65,200.00 Annually

This position performs reviews of plans and applications and provides customer service to the public, County departments, and local agencies. Provides technical and administrative support to staff. Researches, compiles, and analyzes data; assists with the general organization of public hearings. Assists the public with planning and development questions and concerns; performs technical tasks associated with the review of plans and applications. This position is part of the Planning Services Coordinator career progression series, which includes Associate Planning Services Coordinator, Planning Services Coordinator, and Senior Planning Services Coordinator. An employee is eligible to advance to the next position within the series when the employee has met the criteria for advancement as notated within the job description and has received a recommendation from the Hiring Authority.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service duties by answering zoning-related inquiries; communicates zoning issues with property owners and contractors; and research land use history and data using a computer, maps, archived files, and publications. 
  • Receives and documents citizen complaints for Code Enforcement. 
  • Performs counter-based customer assistance to provide general or site-specific information about project processing requirements and standard interpretations of the Land Development Code.
  • Reviews and processes minor land use review applications, processes various types of building permits and applications, and disseminates information to the public. 
  • Reviews and processes minor residential projects.
  • Provides technical support and assistance to staff such as conducting research, creating maps and charts.
  • Performs data entry and inputs information into database. 
  • Provides support to the Planning Commission and/or Board of Adjustment.
  • Assists with the preparation of public hearing notices, coordinates mass mailings for public hearing items.
  • Performs agenda management and attends meetings; takes, transcribes, and distributes meeting minutes.
  • Organizes, processes and transfers records for inactive file storage, scanning and destruction. Locates information within inactive storage.
  • Creates and maintains internal records of incoming and outgoing communication.
  • Responsible for collecting and processing documents to be recorded. Serves as the primary contact with the Clerk and Recorder's Office.
  • Processes general receipts in compliance with policies and procedures. 
  • Assists with training staff as needed. 
  • Performs reception dutites as required.
  • Sorts and distributes incoming mail and faxes; processes outgoing mail.
  • Performs other duties as required.
