Under general supervision, this position aids businesses, applicants, and the public by performing a wide range of community development planning activities.

- Coordinates with other departments and outside agencies on assigned projects; reviews less complex land development proposals for compliance with Town codes, ordinances, Town master plans, and intergovernmental agreements.
- Reviews and analyzes land development applications, land use codes, and related ordinances; reviews and issues building permits; analyzes and makes recommendations for land development requests, and inspects for certificates of occupancy.
- Prepares staff recommendations, technical reports, and presents to Town Council, Planning Commission, task forces, and community groups for action on less complex development proposals; presents information in a public hearing or public format.
- Performs on-site inspection of developments to ensure compliance with site plans (including landscaping and architecture) and conditions of approval.
- Assists in issuance of building permits and certificates of occupancy to ensure compliance with land development code requirements.
- Provides planning related information to property owners, architects, developers, realtors, appraisers, and the public.
- Conducts land use, demographic, economic, and other research activities on a broad range of community and planning subjects.
- Assists with and oversees the development and revisions to long range and comprehensive planning projects, including master plans, transportation plans, sub-area plans, neighborhood plans, and trail and open space plans.
- Responds to citizen inquiries in an appropriate manner.
- Assists in negotiation and administers professional service agreements with consultants; seeks alternative funding opportunities.
- Reviews building permits and business licenses for zoning and land-use compliance; coordinates, recommends, reviews, and develops revisions to land-use codes and related ordinances.
- Works closely with task forces and community groups to gather input and develop consensus on planning projects and initiatives.
- Attends professional development trainings to maintain skill and competence in the planning field.
- Adheres to all Town and Departmental values, policies, procedures, and philosophies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
