The successful Studio Team Lead candidate will have demonstrated experience leading and motivating teams to perform at their highest level to meet project objectives. The Studio Team Lead must also have a strong background in the successful management and execution of planning projects including, but not limited to land use regulation updates, master plans, area plans, planning studies and analysis, development of planning studies. A proficient understanding of local government planning, finance, administration, or a combination of experience is necessary for this position. They will have experience with technical, research, and communication skills while holding senior or executive level positions. Experience working in small or mid-sized communities, working with multidisciplinary design and research teams, being driven in their work with a desire for advancement, and providing high quality service and products are essential to the position. An understanding of Colorado specific land use regulations and laws is necessary for this position. The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting community development though creative thinking, critical assessment, strategic analysis, meticulous attention to detail, and personalized implementation.
The following are guidelines that represent the ideal qualifications for this position. Any combination of education and experience will be considered for this position provided the essential functions, duties, and knowledge can be proven.
- At least 7 years of relevant planning project experience working with a variety of cities, towns, and/or counties preferably in the Rocky Mountain region. Experience working in and with small, rural communities in Colorado is necessary for the successful candidate.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a planning related field.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in planning, public administration, geography, or related field preferred.
- Certification through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). If not currently certified, successful candidate will be able to obtain certification as soon as possible upon hire.
- Experience managing small teams of professionals.
- Understanding of how to accomplish long term projects by meeting deadlines, keeping budgets, and providing high quality deliverables.
