This multitasking position is responsible for various research activities, including gathering information for use in developing projection of transportation needs, usages and impacts, analyzing needs for services, answering citizen questions concerning traffic signing, interpreting traffic studies, preparing graphic presentations and comprehensive reports on traffic characteristics related to planning or engineering, preparing narrative and visual reports and making recommendations on research findings, updating the functional classification map, and preparing materials for and aiding in the administration of various boards and commissions. This position will be heavily involved in long range transportation planning and project implementation. Supervisory responsibilities as assigned.

 

Administration - 60%

  • Assist in development of a county-wide comprehensive transportation plan with Public Works staff and other Weld County departments, municipalities within Weld County, CDOT, the North Front Range MPO, Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) MPO, Upper Front Range TPR, and adjacent counties.
  • Assist in the development of a variety of transportation planning documents, such as Weld County’s Master Transportation Plan, Regional Transportation Plans, Corridor Optimization Plans, traffic studies and Access Management Plans.
  • Review and evaluate municipal projects in Weld County and provide referral comments.

Project Management - 20%

  • Serve as project manager on a variety of transportation planning projects.
  • Review and evaluate development review land use cases in order to make transportation recommendations on behalf of the Public Works Department.
  • Perform population, land use, employment, economic base, transportation and other specialized studies of the County and adjacent areas related to transportation planning.


Other Duties as Assigned - 20%

  • Responsible for public involvement, meeting federal and state requirements, on various plans and documents.
  • Perform technical and analytical work as it pertains to transportation planning.
  • Development and oversight of planning and engineering documents, such as the Transportation Plan, Capital Improvement Plan and Access Plan Plans.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, or related field and 4 years of relevant work experience.

 

Experience Qualifications

  • 8 years equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Local government experience.
