Boulder County Community Planning and Permitting Department is seeking to hire a Administrative Lead Technician. The Boulder County Community Planning & Permitting Department is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Lead Technician. Administrative Lead Technician is the lead/specialist level classification in the Administrative Support series, combining public service, technical problem-solving, and operational support The Administrative Lead Technician serves as a specialized technical resource in the Planning Division and other departmental teams, requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental operations, administrative procedures, and exercising a considerable degree of independent judgment. The Administrative Lead Technician handles responsibilities independently and may supervise employee(s). The position reports to the Deputy Director of Planning. This position supports a dynamic planning environment and may take on new or modified duties as workflows, technology, or regulatory requirements evolve.

This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm with some required evening meetings (generally one or two a month). This position will work out of 2045 13th Street Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime). 

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

 

Hiring Salary Range: $52,488.00 - $64,086.00 Annually

 

Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: April 20th
  • First Round Interviews: April 27th
  • Reference Check: May 4th

 

New employees receive an 80-hour bank (Download PDF reader) of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Examples of Duties

 

  1. Coordinates with planning staff on referrals, notices, and determinations for development applications to the county
  2. Performs liaison duties with various Boulder County boards, including:
    • Preparing roll call and materials for meetings and hearings
    • Attending occasional after-hours meetings
    • Recording video and/or audio of the meetings
    • Preparing meeting minutes
    • Assisting with on-boarding for new Board and Commission members.
    • Maintaining Board and Commission records
  3. Performs special projects of an administrative or technical nature requiring expertise on departmental procedures
  4. Provides support in processing public records requests, ensuring timely, accurate, and legally compliant responses
  5. Reviews, drafts, and finalizes documents related to departmental procedures, state statutes and legal forms
  6. Provides assistance to employees on support and technical problems
  7. Assists the public by providing information and answering inquiries of a technical nature involving interpretation of policies, procedures and documents
  8. Manages web updates, permitting and licensing management system data entry, and internal shared drive file maintenance.
  9. Develops and maintains efficient record-keeping systems
  10. May supervise a small team (1-3 staff) and is responsible for performance reviews and disciplinary actions as needed.
  11. Directs, trains, organizes, reviews, and monitors the workflow of staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
  12. Recommends policy changes and budget requests
  13. Takes and transcribes or composes minutes, notes, or court pleadings
  14. Prepares for and organizes public meetings and hearings
  15. Inventories office supplies and orders when necessary
  16. Uses computer software and applications to complete projects and responsibilities
  17. Supports front desk staff and covers reception when necessary
  18. Performs related work, as required
  19. May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of 

  • A high school diploma, or equivalent

AND

  • Four years of office experience

Additional related education may count towards required experience.
