Jennifer Woods, AICP: Jennifer has enjoyed her 15-year planning career from various regions in the country ranging from the desert southwest to the Pacific northwest and the southeast. She earned a Bachelors in Business Administration from Texas Tech University and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University, during which time she also served in the Peace Corps in Albania. Jennifer loves to go camping and hiking with her family (where there is no cell phone service). She is currently employed by the Town of Hudson in southeast Weld County as the Planning Director and Interim Town Manager.
The goal of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee is to inform and help perpetuate a planning profession that is representative of the population it serves. Its objectives are to understand hiring practices and pay equity, opportunity, and promotion, influence the training of the next generation of planners, from elementary school to college, and understand and support the diversity of the profession.
Who: EDI Chair(s), Committee Members (APA Colorado members and allied professionals with an interest in these topics)
Tasks:
- Provide an annual or biannual report to the Chapter regarding the state of EDI within the planning professions in Colorado as it pertains to the Committee's goals and objectives. This report is intended to be provided at the annual state conference.
- The Committee and the report are a resource to help inform the Board’s actions regarding legislation support, conference themes and session selection, membership surveys, and various other opportunities to ensure support for EDI principles.
Meetings
The EDI Committee typically meets bi-monthly via conference or video conference. Meetings are scheduled for the 1st Tuesday of the month.

2021 Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Survey
For those interested in the results of the APA Colorado EDI survey, the Committee has offered the three documents below. The information was discussed in detail during the 2022 Colorado Planning Conference and video of those presentations will be posted on the Chapter's YouTube channel when available. Check back often for updates and our plans to utilize the survey information to implement changes!
