Mission

The mission of the APA Colorado Sustainability Committee is to promote the integration of sustainability principles into planning policy and practice through relevant education and outreach.

Goals

  • Identify innovative planning methods and tools
  • Research best practices in sustainable planning
  • Collaborate
  • Partner with other organizations that share common mission and goals
  • Engage APA Colorado membership, including young planners
  • Promote policy recommendations to support sustainable planning
  • Work with the APA Colorado Legislative Committee on policy issues
  • Share innovative methods, foster dialog, and raise awareness on sustainability issues and how they relate to planning through:
  • A section on the APA Colorado website
  • An article in the Newsletter each quarter
  • Seminars (eligible for CM credits) for planners on how to practicably green their communities
  • Greening State Conference and presenting sessions
  • Providing relevant educational opportunities provided by other organizations
  • As appropriate, promote volunteer opportunities or workday events that support community sustainability efforts
